Through the efforts of breast cancer advocates nationwide, for the first time October 13 has gained recognition by United States Congress as Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

During a month that is often focused on early-stage disease, October 13 recognizes the thousands of women living with advanced breast cancer, who beyond seeking a cure, desire public support that pays tribute to their unique experiences.
